About Me

David Marsh, owner

After 20 years in newspaper journalism, I went back to school to become an independent editor. In 2019 I graduated from Simon Fraser University's highly regarded editing program with a GPA of 4.0, and then established my sole proprietorship, IDM Editing.

My primary services are substantive editing, copy editing, and proofreading. My specialty is nonfiction trade books, the area where I'm best suited to do substantive work, but I'm also experienced in copy editing and proofreading a wide variety of texts aimed at a general readership, including fiction.

Subjects and genres in which I have a strong background include biography/memoir, business, the environment, government, history, popular science, self-help, transportation, travel, and urban affairs.

My clients include several Canadian book publishers and I'm also available to work with self-published authors and with organizations that use written communications.

I live in Vancouver, Canada, where I was born and grew up. I've also lived and worked in Vietnam and Hong Kong.
